Re: Rawr Viruses
the program is in use because a windows file has been infected. Windows is in use. You cant do that. and if mcafee cant do shit about it, looks like a HD wipe. Also, i suggest the following firewalls.
-kaspersky internet security
-zonealarm internet security suite
there not just firewalls though, there firewalls with the whole anti virues/spam/spyware/ anything else you can think of.
Personally i like kaspersky the best, it takes care of everything and has everything under watch. I think if you disable kaspersky internet security, you disable your internet or something like that.
more like you have to reconnect to the network your on. But anyways, yeah mcafee is lame. ive tried em all. those two beat them. And btw. zonealarm uses kaspersky. Sooooo.

Re: Rawr Viruses
Actually, most computers ( factory made) come with system recovery already on the HDD. It can be found in the same place that you would wipe your HDD.
But if thats not an option, one time i was spammed with spyware and trojan downloaders. There were so many i had to disconnect the ethernet cable from my computer.
What i did pretty much is while i was offline, I went to system recovery, went back a day, and then while i had control over my computer i downloaded some heavy duty internet security
and removed/quarentined the viruses/spyware.

Re: Rawr Viruses
Sorry that I'm late on this post but next time don't wipe the drive... no need to. Next time just boot into safe mode and delete it. Avast! is the only program me and my friends use or a main defence , it also can scan for viruses before windows even boots called "Boot scan". Avast! is free as long as you download Avast! Home.

Re: Rawr Viruses
I have always hated avast, always will. I dont like how every second you hear a voice that its been updated, and the trouble with the scan before boot. I also dont like how it catches the viruses. Right now im using zonealarm PRO 8.0 2009 w/ malwarebytes anti malware. So far best combo i have ever come by.

Re: Rawr Viruses
I've had the same setup for 3 years and for 3 years I've had a stable setup. I haven't F-disk since I built my computer 4 years ago. The first year I had AVG before changing to Avast!. I was just putting out my life saver setup. All my best friends are computer techs, 2 of them work at the Sherburn County Government Center and they swithed to Avast! Corp. 2 months ago and they have a lot less problems then before.
Note: Avast! gives you the option to disable all sounds and pop-ups. You can also change the Boot Scan settings.

Re: Rawr Viruses
Well not to mention ive had a couple problems with avast!'s security on my computer. Ive been attacked from viruses (trojan's) and avast has acted too late to do anything about it. I had to delete avast! and install AVG free edition to get it out of my computer. Thats pretty embaressing for avast!

Re: Rawr Viruses
Did you keep it up to date? I've used it for 3 years and I've never had a problem. It always catches the virus/trojan before it gets on my computer.

Re: Rawr Viruses
i had a trojan on my computer a while ago and i had McAfee installed. It did nothing to stop it or get rid of it so my papi installed Super Antispyware Professional and it got rid of every thing that was wrong with my compy in like 4 hours
